Types
of liners:
Stainless
Steel – This method of relining involves installing
a round, oval or rectangular stainless steel liner in the
chimney. The liner is then insulated with a material that
will keep the liner warm (thus ensuring a better draw) and
also strengthen both the liner and the chimney.
Chimney
Jack offers UL Listed stainless steel lining systems that
come with a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty that
is also transferable to the next owner of the home.
Flue
Tiles – Terra Cotta flue tile liners have been used
in chimney construction in the Denver area since the 1930’s.
Most often they are suitable for use in new construction.
When they become cracked or broken (usually due to a chimney
fire) they can be replaced if the chimney is quite large,
otherwise the solution is usually to install a stainless
liner within the damaged flue tiles.
Chimney
Jack can evaluate your chimney and determine the best solution
for you.
Aluminum
– Aluminum liners can be used to vent natural gas
burning appliances such as a furnace, hot water heater or
boiler. These liners generally are less expensive than stainless
steel and have twenty to thirty year warranties.
Chimney
Jack strongly advises that all furnace and boiler chimneys
be lined so as to prevent any carbon monoxide and flue gasses
from entering the home.
Firebox repointing and rebuilding:
The
firebox or your fireplace takes a lot of heat and abuse.
If any of the bricks are loose or if the mortar joints are
eroded back more than ½ inch it should be repaired.
Chimney
Jack can repair, build or rebuild fireboxes.
Crown
Repair:
The
mortar crown is the concrete-like surface at the top of
your chimney. Its job is to shed water way from the flue
and to keep water from entering the chimney chase. Cracks
or missing pieces in the crown can lead to extensive water
damage in your chimney.
Chimney
Jack can repair or rebuild the crown on your chimney.
Damper
Repair:
A
damper stops heat from escaping up the chimney when the
fireplace is not in use. If your fireplace does not have
a damper or if it is inadequate you are simply pumping your
heat (and money) right up the chimney.
Chimney
Jack can evaluate your damper and repair, or replace it
as necessary.
We
want your business and will do the job right at a fair price.
